About our team | Mō te tīma The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their families, and whānau. About the role | Mō te tūnga As a Data Analyst in Quality Improvement, you'll develop analysis and reporting that helps DSS strengthen quality, equity, and accessibility of services. You'll work across datasets, produce internal and external reporting (including OIA / Ministerial / Ombudsman responses), and ensure analytical processes are well documented, consistent, and grounded in robust evidence. You'll produce clear reporting products and collaborate with partners across DSS and the disability community to ensure insights are useful, accessible, and drive better outcomes. This is a Permanent role and is based in our Wellington National Office. Key responsibilities include: Extract, transform, and analyse data using tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Excel, SQL, and R to deliver accurate, timely insights Design and deliver reporting products that support service quality, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement across DSS Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve quality, equity, and accessibility of services, using critical thinking and clear logic Present information in a clear, accessible, and concise format for non-technical users, ensuring insights can be understood and applied Provide high-quality data to support Official Information Act, Ministerial, and Ombudsman requests, with appropriate care and judgement Strengthen quality assurance by documenting the team's processes, contributing to improved tools / frameworks, and providing / receiving peer review and quality control What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga Proven experience in data and information analysis, quantitative methods, statistics, and insight development Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capability (including complex formulas, Power Query, and VBA) Proven relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, handle sensitive information, and work collaboratively across stakeholders Strong critical thinking and analytical ability, able to apply frameworks / models and draw accurate, evidence-based conclusions Proven experience using SQL, R, or Excel to extract, shape, and analyse data for reporting and decision support Confidence translating technical findings into plain language and communicating effectively with operational and non-technical audiences Experience designing and documenting processes, including process maps Strong planning and organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and provide timely progress updates Position Description | He Whakaahuatanga Tūnga A copy of the position description can be found here.
