We need pro-active team members with a positive disposition, and the ability to communicate accurately and confidently with a diverse range of people across different levels; someone who can work autonomously but also as part of a team. You will need to be competent and calm in high-pressure situations. Ongoing training is a requirement of the role, so you will need to be open to new learnings and ideas, able to analyse any problems, and offer solutions. About us: Palmerston North Airport Ltd is one of a handful of New Zealand airports which operate 24/7 and are curfew free. With up to forty flights per day, scheduled passenger air services link Palmerston North Airport to Auckland, Nelson, Blenheim and Christchurch. Air service development is a key priority at Palmerston North Airport with the reintroduction of scheduled domestic jet services likely in the short term. Palmerston North is also a key node on the New Zealand express freight network, with 20 Boeing 737 freighter movements operating overnight each week. Palmerston North Airport is entering an exciting phase in its evolution, with a new 5,000m2 terminal building currently under construction and an 8,000m2 warehouse & office complex to commence in the new year. The Role: We are currently looking for an additional Rescue Fire Officer to complement our newly expanded team of eight personnel, to provide a cross-section of responsibilities: First-responder for all airport emergencies (fire, medical, rescue) Wildlife management Airfield inspections Airfield works supervision Security surveillance and response Grounds maintenance/management What experience and skills are we looking for? Ideally, previous experience working as a firefighter (including voluntary) Minimum of a Class 2 drivers’ licence, with the ability to gain a Class 4 Have a current NZ Firearms Licence and First Aid Certificate (preferred, but not essential) What sort of person do we need?
