Career Pathways Advisor

Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role We are seeking a permanent, full-time Career Pathways Advisor based in Hawke’s Bay to empower learners to understand themselves, explore possibilities, make informed career decisions, and successfully transition through education and training into employment. This rewarding role provides integrated career development, employability, pathway planning, and work-integrated learning support for prospective and current learners. Working collaboratively with secondary schools, employers, industry partners, community organisations, and academic teams, you will help learners develop career management capabilities, gain meaningful workplace experiences, and achieve successful education and employment outcomes. The appointing salary for this role will be between $75,102 and $84,489, dependent on skills and experience. Reporting to the Student Support Services Manager, you will be responsible for: Providing individual and group career development guidance and coaching. Supporting learners to identify their strengths, interests, values, skills, and aspirations. Assisting learners to explore educational, vocational, and employment opportunities and make informed career decisions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with schools, careers advisors, employers, industry partners, and pathway providers. Delivering pathway workshops, expos, transition events, and employability initiatives. Supporting learners with CV and cover letter preparation, interview skills, networking, job search strategies, and professional readiness. Supporting successful learner transitions into tertiary study, employment, further education, and training. Developing and supporting work-integrated learning opportunities, including internships, placements, practicums, and industry projects. Gathering labour market intelligence to inform career advice and programme development. Working collaboratively across EIT to enhance learner success, graduate outcomes, and workforce readiness. He kōrero mōu | About You To be successful in this role you will have: A degree-level qualification in Career Development or a related field. Current membership, or eligibility for membership, with the Career Development Association of New Zealand (CDANZ). At least five years' experience in career development, employability, work-integrated learning, student success, or a related field. Strong knowledge of career development theory and practice, tertiary and vocational education pathways, and labour market trends. Experience designing and delivering workshops, programmes, or initiatives that support learner success and employability. Excellent relationship management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated ability to apply culturally responsive, learner-centred, and whānau-centred approaches. A commitment to supporting equitable outcomes and fostering learner success.
