Finance Assistant

Ready to take the next step in your finance career? We're looking for an ambitious Finance Assistant who wants to move beyond transactional accounting and become a trusted business partner. This isn't your typical finance role - you'll work alongside senior commercial leaders, influence business decisions, and gain exposure to one of New Zealand's leading media organisations. Working within our Commercial Finance team, you'll partner with General Managers across our Direct Markets, delivering financial insights, supporting budgeting and forecasting, analysing business performance, and helping drive commercial outcomes across the business. This is a fast-paced environment where you'll be expected to build strong stakeholder relationships and think commercially. What you'll be doing Partner with General Managers and Commercial leaders to provide financial insights and performance analysis. Support budgeting, forecasting and month-end reporting. Analyse revenue, margins and business performance to identify risks and opportunities. Assist with financial modelling and business cases for new initiatives. Deliver meaningful reporting that supports commercial decision-making. Build trusted relationships across the business and become a valued finance partner. About you We're looking for someone who has already started building a career in commercial finance and is ready for their next challenge. You'll likely have: Around 1-3 years' experience in Commercial Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or Business Partnering. Proven experience working directly with senior stakeholders, providing commercial insights, challenging thinking where appropriate, and building trusted business relationships. A Finance or Accounting degree. Progress towards (or the ambition to begin) your CA or CPA qualification. Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems. Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and management reporting. A genuine curiosity about how businesses operate and a desire to influence commercial decisions.
