Swim Teacher Invercargill City Council•Invercargill, NZ We live in a country surrounded by water, the majority of our population live in close proximity to it and for many it's our playground whether we're swimming, boating, fishing or involved in some other water sport. Swimming is a vital life skill and one that someday may mean the difference between life and death. Do you want to make a difference? Our friendly Aquatic Services team have a position available for permanent part-time Swim Teacher. Swim school operates Monday - Saturday, 9am - 6pm (excluding public holidays). Our Ideal candidate would have daytime availability Key responsibilities for this role include: Monitor and supervise the safety of customers during swim lessons Provide assessments on ‘Learn to Swim' students, as and when required Instruct high quality and consistent ‘Learn to Swim' lessons to students of all levels of ability, and a range of ages from adults to infants Instruct high quality and consistent ILT School Swimming lessons with a focus on water skills for life to students of all levels of ability, and a range of school aged children Ensure ongoing Lifeguard and Swim Teaching training is carried out as per instructions Communicate effectively with ‘Learn to Swim' students, their parents/guardian and with other instructors What you will bring: not essential as full training will be provided Austswim/Swim Australia - Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain National Lifeguard Award Ability to lead a group of pre-schoolers High level of customer relations and communication skills Ability to work flexible shifts during the operating hours of swim school What we offer: Career progression and training/development opportunities Positive focus of employee health and well-being: free flu vaccines, EAP services, 50% off eye exams, discounted gym memberships etc Kiwisaver and Superannuation Schemes Waihōpai Invercargill is New Zealand's southernmost city and the heart and hub of Southland.
