The Design Technology Teacher plays a vital role in supporting students' creative and technical development throughout their educational journey. This position involves delivering high‑quality instruction in Design Technology, aligned with the Cambridge International curriculum, while fostering problem‑solving, innovation, and hands‑on skills. The teacher will inspire academic excellence, encourage curiosity, and nurture students' confidence in both design thinking and practical application . Through engaging, workshop‑based learning, effective assessment practices, and strong pastoral support, the teacher ensures that every student is empowered to reach their full potential—academically, creatively, and personally. The role also contributes actively to the broader school community. This current vacancy includes some middle school art teaching as well, so experience in the curriculum area is advantageous. This is a full‑time position, commencing on 25 January 2027 and is based in Auckland. ACG is open to sponsoring the preferred candidate, provided they meet the relevant visa requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver engaging, high‑quality teaching and assessment programs aligned with curriculum and college standards. Create a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed learning environment that supports student success. Inspire and motivate students to achieve their academic potential and develop independent learning skills. Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, maintaining accurate academic records. Prepare effective lesson resources, assessments, homework, projects, and extension activities. Integrate educational technology to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement. Provide academic and pastoral support to students, including tutor group responsibilities. Build strong relationships and communicate professionally with parents, students, and colleagues. Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing learning, development, and performance review processes. Contribute to the wider school community through participation in events, open days, and college activities. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Strong capability in technical drawing, including visual communication and design documentation. Competency in health and safety within a practical workshop environment, ensuring safe and compliant teaching practice. Ability to demonstrate and supervise the safe use of tools and machinery, including hand tools, band saws, and laser cutters. Experience with the Cambridge curriculum is advantageous, though not essential. The role includes teaching a some Middle School Art, requiring versatility and creative teaching skills across related disciplines PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Student‑centred, caring, and committed to supporting individual growth. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent. Undertake a New Zealand police check prior to commencing the position Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining a New Zealand Teacher Registration Assist with duties including break time supervision. A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent‑teacher interviews, etc.).
