About the Role We’re seeking a Registered Nurse with strong communication and organisational skills, and a current Annual Practising Certificate from the New Zealand Nursing Council. Based in the Medical Progressive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital, this role involves delivering patient-centred care, including assessment, treatment, and support for patients and their whąnau. This role is a fixed-term position due to secondment concluding on 27th November 2026. The role is 0.6FTE(24hours per week). Key responsibilities Managing patient admissions and discharges Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team Upholding cultural safety and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles Maintaining a safe environment through risk management and incident reporting About the Team/Service The Medical Progressive Care Unit is a 14-bed service caring for adult patients within General Medicine, often with complex or multi-system conditions. You’ll be supported by a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a strong focus on both clinical excellence and ongoing professional development. About You 1+ years post-graduate experience You’ll thrive in a fast-paced acute environment, bringing strong assessment, time management, and interpersonal skills. Confidence working both independently and as part of a team is essential, along with a flexible, solution-focused approach. You have a current Annual Practising Certificate from the New Zealand Nursing Council.
