About the Role Are you passionate about moving patients safely and educating health care staff in your teams? We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our friendly team of Coordinators and Educators with the Practice Development Team at the Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals. The Moving & Handling and Restraint Coordinator is a Registered Health Professional role focused on risk assessment, hazard identification, and teaching health care staff to use moving and handling equipment when required to safely mobilise patients. You will lead and provide moving and handling education programmes to meet organisational standards for workforce safety, and certification. In addition, you will work with colleagues towards a restraint and seclusion free environment for patients in which people's dignity and mana are maintained. Together with your relevant post-graduate qualification, you will use your knowledge of moving and handling equipment and guidelines of Worksafe and Nga Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standard New Zealand NZS 8134:2021. You will be required to have knowledge of the incident reporting system used in the district which identifies restraint incidents and moving and handling injuries. Frequent travel across the district is required as the role delivers on-site training and coordination at both Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals. Based in the stunning Bay of Plenty, this service embraces a holistic, patient-centred approach and is committed to achieving excellence in clinical outcomes through teamwork and innovation. You are a Registered Nurse who brings clinical confidence, empathy, and an interest in patient safety and clinical education. Previous experience in similar roles is desirable, but not essential if there is a genuine commitment to learn and contribute to best practice.
