Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 28/01/2027, End Date: 16/12/2027 (Covering a study award position) Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher Science 3MU We are seeking an innovative, energetic, and collaborative leader to step into the role of head of science department for the 2027 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader, teacher or aspiring middle leader to lead a well-resourced, passionate, and collaborative science faculty. You will oversee the delivery of an engaging science curriculum across junior and senior levels (including NCEA pathways) while fostering a culture of curiosity and high achievement. Key responsibilities Lead and support a dedicated team of science educators. Oversee the implementation of current NCEA reforms and curriculum updates within the department. Cultivate an inclusive, dynamic learning environment that inspires student engagement in STEM. Manage departmental resources, budgets and safety compliance. The successful applicant will have: A strong background teaching senior science (please state your senior subject specialisms in your application, e.g., chemistry, physics, biology, earth/space science). Excellent relational skills and a proven track record of culturally responsive pedagogy. Strong organisational skills and a passion for mentoring both students and teaching staff. Current Teaching Council New Zealand registration and practicing certiticate. Experience in leadership, curriculum design and staff collaboration. #J-18808-Ljbffr
