About the Role Permanent In this role, you will have an exciting opportunity to continually improve the standards of care for patients while championing best practice in infection prevention and control. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic registered nurse with a passion for quality improvement and patient safety. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality infection prevention initiatives across a range of clinical settings, taking ownership of your own portfolio of work. You will lead and support sustainable quality improvement projects, participate in key programmes such as the Hand Hygiene Programme, ICNET management, and Surgical Site Infection Surveillance, and work collaboratively with clinical teams to embed evidence-based practice. A significant part of the role involves driving practice improvements, monitoring progress, overcoming barriers, and evaluating long-term outcomes to achieve measurable improvements in patient safety. You should be able to demonstrate a quality improvement project or education initiative they have led or contributed to within the past 12 months that resulted in a measurable improvement in patient safety. About the Team/Service/ Location Our Infection Prevention team works collaboratively across Waitematā to support clinical services in delivering safe, high-quality care. We partner with a wide range of healthcare professionals to promote frontline ownership, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections through education, surveillance, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. About you You will have: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of Level 4 or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, including designing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable improvement initiatives using recognised quality improvement methodologies. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and influence practice change. Strong IT skills, including experience managing databases, information systems, and electronic repositories. A commitment to infection prevention, patient safety, and continuous improvement, with the ability to demonstrate recent measurable outcomes from a quality improvement or education initiative.
