Hotel: Scenic Hotel Te Pania Location: 45 Marine Parade, Napier South, Napier 4110 Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent position. Hours of Work: Guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week. Primarily Monday-Friday but may include some weekends. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys painting, decorating, general maintenance, and leading by example. You'll play a key role in maintaining our hotel to a high standard while delivering a safe, welcoming environment for both guests and staff. Key Tasks & Responsibilities Oversight of the running of the department including determining work requirements and allocation of duties. Oversight of preventative maintenance schedule and routine checks. In coordination with the General Manager and Property Team, prioritise and schedule maintenance tasks for the property and grounds. Preparation and maintenance of Maintenance department rosters and attendance records. Planning, budgeting, and ordering for the Maintenance department. Ensuring that training is coordinated, structured, and aligned with service standards. Taking a proactive approach to implementing service improvements to drive departmental success. General Maintenance Tasks/Repairs Fixing or replacing faulty equipment and appliances in guest rooms, common areas, and back-of-house facilities. Conducting carpentry work, such as repairing furniture, doors, and cabinetry. Painting and maintaining the interior and exterior surfaces of the hotel. Handling minor repairs and maintenance tasks in guest rooms, such as changing light bulbs, and adjusting room fixtures etc. General grounds & landscaping work if required. referred Skills & Experience Prior experience with building repairs / maintenance Relevant trade qualification (preferred but not essential) Current First Aid Certificate Strong painting, decorating, and general trade skills. Confident completing hands-on repairs and maintenance tasks. Guest-focused with a high standard of workmanship. Full NZ Drivers Licence is required.
