Industrial Electrical Technician - Christchurch We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Electrical Technician to join our Christchurch crew! The majority of your work will be based around Rolleston’s Izone Industrial Park, maintaining and improving a wide range of industrial electrical and automation systems. This role offers a great mix of new industrial installations, commissioning, and ongoing post-construction service and maintenance support. We’re looking for someone with strong hands‑on industrial site experience who enjoys building quality installations and seeing projects through from installation to handover. Commissioning will form an important part of the role—testing, verifying and proving systems operate as intended before providing ongoing support to our customers once sites are operational. This is a permanent, full‑time position with excellent long‑term career opportunities. You’ll be part of a supportive team, work on a variety of interesting industrial sites, and have opportunities to continue developing your technical skills in industrial electrical and automation systems. Installing industrial electrical equipment, switchboards, cable systems and control equipment on new and existing industrial sites. Supporting industrial construction projects from installation through to commissioning and customer handover. Testing and commissioning electrical equipment, motors, MCCs and control systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Providing post‑construction service, fault finding, preventative maintenance and customer support. Fault finding across industrial plant, machinery and OEM equipment. Working with motor control systems, including VSDs and soft starters. Assisting with PLC, automation and control system installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Carrying out instrumentation installation and maintenance. Preparing risk assessments and following safe work practices. Completing Certificates of Compliance (COCs), Electrical Safety Certificates (ESCs) and other job documentation. Supporting and mentoring apprentices and junior team members. Working closely with customers and teammates to deliver quality outcomes. What We’re Looking For If you are registered and have the following minimum requirements, we would like to hear from you. NZ Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence Full New Zealand Driver Licence Proven experience working on industrial electrical installation projects Strong practical knowledge of industrial construction, installation and commissioning Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills across industrial plant and equipment Experience with PLC‑controlled machinery and industrial automation (programming experience is not essential) Sound knowledge of motor control systems, including VSDs and soft starters Instrumentation experience would be an advantage Good mechanical aptitude Strong communication and organisational skills A positive attitude and genuine team‑first approach Someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is keen to keep learning Willingness to work overtime or participate in an on‑call roster when required Why Join Us?
