Visitor Services Assistant - Wellington Gardens Work in the beautiful setting of the Botanic Garden ki Paekākā Earn the Living Wage 2 fixed term roles available, to April 2027 Join our team at Wellington City Council and contribute to the vibrant future of Pōneke, playing our part in making an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play. As part of the Wellington Gardens team, you will provide exceptional customer service to both locals and tourists at the beautiful Botanic Garden ki Paekākā. We are currently hiring in afixed-term capacity starting from August 2026 through April 2027, with additional shifts during the peak season from December to February. A bit about the role: Provide excellent customer service to visitors and callers at Wellington Gardens Engage with customers, deliver retail and Seminar Room services Assist customers with retail purchases, including cash handling Complete associated administrative duties Serve as one of the key welcoming faces for domestic and international tourists. Fixed term position from August 24th to April 30th, working 26 hours per week Work across 4 days, including two weekend shifts (6.5 hours each) and two weekday shifts (6.5 hours each) Flexibility required to work up to 40 hours per week during the peak season to meet demand Public holiday work is required A bit about you: Strong customer service, retail, and retail merchandising experience High attention to detail for retail merchandising and Seminar Room delivery Self-driven and ability to work proactively to manage a range of tasks Excellent communication skills to assist a diverse range of people Ability to handle customer enquiries in a helpful and friendly manner Previous experience in a similar retail, customer service, or tourism role is preferred Interest in te reo Māori and New Zealand sign language is appreciated and encouraged Applications close: 4 August 2026.
