Class 5 Bitumen Tanker Driver Higgins•Hawke's Bay Description Higgins is looking for a Class 5 Driver to join our Napier team operating our bitumen tanker fleet. Based in Napier, you'll play a key role in delivering and transferring bitumen safely and efficiently between Napier Port and Awatoto, supporting our Manufacturing and Port operations. While most work is local, there may be the occasional trip further afield.This is an opportunity to become a specialist operator within a close-knit, high-performing team, with ongoing training, modern equipment, and genuine career development opportunities. What you\'ll be doing Operating a Class 5 Hino bitumen tanker and trailer Safely delivering and transferring bitumen between sites Managing pump operations and specialised bitumen handling equipment Completing electronic logbooks and operational reporting using smart devices Working closely with the wider Manufacturing and Port team Maintaining high standards of safety, vehicle care, and customer service What you\'ll bring Class 5 licence Experience driving truck and trailer units preferred Strong commitment to health, safety, and professional driving standards Confidence using smartphones, tablets, and electronic logbook systems Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work well within a team Flexibility to work occasional weekends or overnight stays as required The following would be advantageous, but are not essential: Dangerous Goods endorsement Linehaul driving experience Bulk liquid or dynamic load transport experience Experience within bitumen, roading, infrastructure, or construction environments Why join us Competitive hourly rate Employer KiwiSaver contributions matched up to 4% Full training in bitumen operations and pump systems Support to obtain additional licences and endorsements, including Dangerous Goods Modern, well-maintained fleet and equipment Career progression opportunities, including future linehaul driving roles Company-provided PPE and work clothing Retail discounts for you and your family Z fuel discounts, including a monthly free pie and coffee A guaranteed 40-hour week, with additional hours available during the busy bitumen season Higgins is a leading construction and infrastructure company, proudly building and maintaining roads, bridges, and civil projects that connect communities across New Zealand.
