About the Role Take your technical expertise into a role that directly supports safe, reliable hospital environments for our Southern communities. This position is ideal for a Registered Electrician with strong BMS controls experience who enjoys problem-solving, system optimisation, and working collaboratively across mechanical and electrical teams. As a Building Services & Controls Technician, you'll ensure our automated building systems—HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, generators, UPS and other critical infrastructure—operate safely, efficiently and reliably. You will: Monitor, interrogate and optimise building systems using Honeywell, Siemens, and other BMS platforms. Diagnose issues across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, steam, condensate, compressed air, medical gas and other reticulated systems. Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, validate BMS data with field inspections, and document results. Design and implement control system code, functional descriptions and system modifications. Update drawings, schematics, manuals and SOPs. Support installation and replacement of plant and equipment across Southern sites. Provide basic BMS training to mechanical and electrical colleagues. Participate in the electrical on-call roster. This role is hands-on, varied, and essential to keeping our hospitals running smoothly. About You You'll bring: Full NZ Registered Electrician's Practising Licence Full NZ Driver's Licence 3+ years' electrical maintenance experience 3+ years' experience with Building Management Control Systems Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3003, and electrical regulations Ability to read technical drawings, prioritise effectively, and work independently Excellent communication skills and a commitment to safe working practices A proactive, solutions-focused approach with high attention to detail Healthcare environment experience Knowledge of AS/NZS 2500 and AS/NZS 6115 Good computer skills and experience with work-order systems Working at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to building a health system that supports all people in Aotearoa.
