Library Assistants - Casual

About The Role: Our libraries could not operate without our brilliant team of Library Assistants. They find ways to connect, inspire and enrich our community every day. You'll spend your day doing a mix of things, including helping our customers by recommending reads, assisting with information enquiries, and aiding with technology needs. These roles are primarily customer-facing. You'll interact with people from all walks of life in a variety of situations, some straightforward, others requiring problem-solving and resilience. At the heart of the role is a strong commitment to supporting and making a positive impact in our community. We are looking for enthusiastic vibrant individuals to work casually at the Whanganui Libraries. The Libraries are open 7 days a week. You will be part of a busy team: Welcoming and interacting with people from all ages and walks of life. Proactively engaging visitors to maintain an atmosphere that feels safe and inclusive for all. Providing technology assistance and help with digital resources. Assisting the community with council and library services. Finding, recommending, and shelving books and helping to keep our collections looking great. Barista for the library cafe (training will be provided) To be successful in this role you will: Have excellent customer service skills to host a diverse range of people Be a confident communicator with cultural competency - Making everyone welcome no matter their age or reason for being in our spaces, will be something that you really enjoy Enjoy working with others and are naturally able to relate to a wide range of people.
