Mō te tūnga | About the role IDEA Services supports people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives at home and as part of their community. As a Support Worker you will be supporting clients with complex needs, managing risk, ensuring safety, and providing individual care throughout the night. We would prefer someone who has previous experience working within the disability sector or aged care. The role of a Support Worker involves providing assistance to individuals in developing their independence and acquiring skills for daily living. This includes tasks like helping them with public transportation, employment, finances, and meal preparation. Depending on the specific work environment, Support Workers may also assist with individual needs such as shopping, cleaning, showering, and medication administration. We would prefer someone who has previous experience working within the disability sector or aged care, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with some life experience and the right attitude. It is essential that you have the skills to build good relationships with the people we support. A strong desire to pursue a career as a Support Worker with a positive attitude is highly valued. Full training and orientation will be provided to individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults. Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover shifts. Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
