Assistant Shop Manager - LEVIN - 33 Hours per Week - $30 - $32 Per Hour Established in 1991, Arohanui Hospice in Palmerston North provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses while supporting their families and whānau. We are situated in Palmerston North and service the Manawatū, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitīkei/Taihape regions. Our name, Arohanui - 'with much love' - is at the centre of everything we do. While our care is provided free of charge, it costs millions each year to deliver. Our Hospice Shops play a vital role in raising the funds that make this care possible. Our Levin Hospice Shop is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Store Manager to help lead a busy community-focused retail environment where every sale contributes directly to supporting local patients and whānau. Working alongside the Store Manager, you'll play a key role in driving store performance, supporting a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, and creating an exceptional experience for customers and donors alike. What you'll be responsible for Supporting the Store Manager with the day-to-day operations and performance of the Levin Hospice Shop Assisting with achieving sales targets and identifying opportunities to grow revenue Leading and motivating staff and volunteers, ensuring a positive and inclusive team culture Delivering exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with donors and shoppers Assisting with merchandising, stock presentation, and maintaining high retail standards Supporting recruitment, training, and development of staff and volunteers Helping ensure health, safety, and operational procedures are followed What you'll bring Previous retail supervisory or leadership experience Strong customer service and relationship-building skills Excellent communication and organisational abilities Confidence using POS systems, cash handling processes, and Microsoft Office applications A positive, hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example The ability to motivate others and work collaboratively within a team environment Initiative, adaptability, and a passion for supporting your local community This is a permanent position, 33 hours per week, worked across a roster that includes weekdays and occasional weekend shifts as required.
