Following the recent purchase of land for a new hospice facility, Cranford Hospice is embarking on a significant design-and-build project to meet the future needs of our community. Over the next two years, the Foundation will play an important role in supporting this journey and helping ensure the long-term sustainability of hospice services across Hawke’s Bay. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an organisation that is not only planning for the future but actively shaping it. About the Foundation The Cranford Hospice Foundation Trust works alongside Cranford Hospice to support its long-term sustainability and future development through stewardship, fundraising, and community engagement. Our Board is made up of people who are deeply committed to the future of Cranford Hospice and who bring a wide range of professional, business, and community experience. One of the strengths of our Board is the way we work together. We bring different skills, perspectives, and experiences to the table, but we are united by a shared commitment to Cranford Hospice. We foster an environment where ideas can be openly discussed, diverse viewpoints are welcomed and decisions are made collectively in the best interests of the organisation and the community we serve. Our Trustees are geographically diverse, with members living from Wairoa in the north to Waipukurau in the south. To accommodate this, we regularly meet online, making Board participation accessible regardless of where you live within the Hawke’s Bay region. As a Trustee, you will provide strategic leadership and governance oversight for the Foundation. Trustees help ensure the organisation remains focused on its purpose, financially sustainable and well-positioned to support hospice services for generations to come. As Cranford Hospice progresses through the design and build phase of its new hospice facility, we are particularly interested in individuals with strong governance capability, strategic thinking and experience helping organisations navigate periods of growth and change. We are looking for someone who can contribute confidently at Board level, ask thoughtful questions, provide constructive challenge and help the Foundation continue to strengthen its governance capability for the future. We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with experience in: governance and strategic leadership finance and investment legal, risk and compliance business leadership and strategy property, infrastructure or major projects marketing and communications community engagement and stakeholder relationships. Associate Trustee opportunity We are seeking one Associate Trustee to join our Board and contribute to the future of Cranford Hospice. This role provides an opportunity to gain valuable governance experience while participating fully in Board discussions and activities. Associate Trustees attend Board meetings, contribute to Board deliberations and bring their expertise and perspective to the governance table, although the role does not carry voting rights. The timing of this appointment offers a unique opportunity to be involved in one of the most significant projects in Cranford Hospice’s history as planning and development for the new hospice progresses. The role is ideally suited to an emerging leader, someone seeking their first governance appointment or an individual looking to broaden their governance experience. For the right candidate, the Associate Trustee role may provide a pathway to a future Trustee appointment.
