About the Role As the Programme Manager – Viral Hepatitis and H. pylori Co-benefits Research, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of a nationally significant research programme focused on improving outcomes for people affected by viral hepatitis and H. pylori. Working within an implementation science framework, you will provide programme leadership across complex research projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with clinicians, researchers, implementation science experts, iwi, Māori providers, academic institutions and health sector partners to ensure Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity principles are embedded throughout the research programme. You'll oversee programme planning, governance, research documentation, ethics processes, contracts, quality and risk management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, while supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver research that informs national policy and improves health outcomes for Māori and other priority populations. About the Team and Location The Equity Development team leads research and programmes that support equitable health outcomes for Māori and other priority populations across Aotearoa. The team works collaboratively with clinical, academic and operational partners to deliver evidence that informs service design, policy development and implementation. In this role, you'll work alongside colleagues across Health New Zealand, including the Hauora Māori Directorate, Pacific Health Directorate, Disability teams, Public Health Medicine specialists and research staff, while building strong relationships with iwi, Māori providers, Iwi Māori Partnership Boards, universities and research organisations. Together, you'll contribute to nationally important research that supports the goals of Pae Ora and strengthens equitable access to care. About you You are an experienced programme or research manager with a passion for improving health outcomes through collaboration, evidence and innovation. You have successfully managed complex programmes, built trusted partnerships and can confidently lead research initiatives involving a wide range of stakeholders. You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent senior programme management experience in a large and complex health environment. At least 5-10 years' experience managing complex programmes, clinical research projects or health initiatives. Demonstrated experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice and a commitment to improving health equity for Māori. Strong programme management skills, including planning, budgeting, governance, quality improvement, reporting and risk management. Experience building collaborative relationships with clinicians, researchers, Māori partners, academic institutions and other stakeholders. Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams. A commitment to continuous improvement, evidence-informed practice and high-quality research delivery. A health, clinical or research background, implementation science experience, postgraduate research qualifications or formal project management qualifications would be an advantage.
