ABOUT THE ROLE

The Web Services team plays an essential role in the day-to-day operations at Rocket Lab by building high quality, reliable web applications that support a wide range of critical functions including mission management, launch operations, production, configuration management and more. We work closely with each other to design and develop innovative solutions to our users' problems which in turn allows the teams we work with to be more efficient and get on with what they do best.

We are looking for someone that is a team player, has a positive attitude and a growth mindset and can join us to tackle some hard problems.

As an intern in the Web Services team, you will work on features and new applications that are a part of our engineering and business systems. There are numerous opportunities to add value and gain valuable experience.

This is an opportunity to work on real space technology projects and contribute to missions that are literally reaching for the stars.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Web Services Software:

  • Web Application Database Schema Design
  • Back-end Web Applications
  • Front-end Web Applications
  • Web Based User Interfaces
  • Machine-to-machine services

Software Development:

  • Develop software and unit tests according to bug-fix and feature requests
  • Participate in review of source code merge requests
  • Participate in scrum activities (e.g., stand-up, retrospectives, sprint planning)
  • Keep tickets up to date regarding work in progress
  • Collaborate with engineers and team members across multiple departments
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

MUST HAVE:

  • Enrolled and progressing in a programme towards a Tertiary Diploma, Certificate or degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • TypeScript/JavaScript development experience
  • Experience with MVC frontend frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, etc.)
  • A team player with a positive attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Passion for aerospace, space technology, and innovation

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Node.js experience
  • Experience with clean code principles, patterns and practices
  • Experience with Git or similar source code management tools
  • Experience with Linux development environments
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue trackers
  • Experience with agile scrum methodologies
  • Previous internship or project experience in web development
