About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga As the PR & Media Manager you will lead the delivery of proactive and reactive public relations, media relations and external communications activity that protects and strengthens Fonterra's reputation. Reporting to the Head of PR & Media Relations, you will be responsible for day-to-day media engagement, developing compelling external communications, managing media enquiries, supporting issues and crisis communications, and providing insight on media sentiment and emerging risks. The role acts as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders, partnering closely with the COO and their leadership team to shape media positioning, support issues management and deliver strategic external communications activity. As an individual contributor, you will provide matrix leadership across workstreams, agencies, subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, coordinated communications outcomes. You are an experienced communications professional with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Business, Politics, or a related field. You have successfully led media responses, developed external messaging, advised stakeholders, managed reputation and issues communications, and delivered PR outcomes through matrix teams, agencies or external partners. You are a confident communicator who builds trusted relationships and influences a diverse range of stakeholders. Resilient and solutions-focused, you stay calm under pressure, navigate sensitive issues with professionalism and take a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks. You thrive in environments where priorities can shift quickly and time-sensitive issues require agility and responsiveness. You're comfortable providing support outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends when critical communications or business needs arise. To support close stakeholder engagement and effective issues management, this role requires a regular onsite presence of 4-5 days per week.
