Job Description
About Us We are proudly NZ owned and operated KiwiSaver and wealth manager. We were founded on the belief that all Kiwis should have access to simple, easy to understand financial advice and socially responsible investments that deliver long-term profitability. Ultimately, we exist to educate, empower, and advise Kiwis, to help them achieve materially better financial outcomes at retirement. About The Role Your mission is to make Onviser automation-first from the start and to design the path that gets us there. This is a brand-new platform, there is no legacy framework to maintain, no inherited suite to untangle and no settled way of working to fit into. You will choose the tools, design the framework, set the standards and build the pipelines. It suits someone who is energised by building rather than maintaining, comfortable with ambiguity, and happy to wear more than one hat while the team is small. Full automation is the destination, but it won't happen on day one. While the platform and the coverage grow together, you will roll your sleeves up on manual and exploratory testing across mobile and web, using each release as raw material for what gets automated next. A strong grounding in manual testing would certainly help here – we believe that best automation engineers understand what they are automating and why, and can tell the difference between a check a machine should run forever and a question only a human can answer. You will also shape acceptance criteria in collaboration with the team, automate compliance-related workflow checks, provide audit evidence, and act as the quality owner within the squad - focused on overall quality rather than just identifying bugs. It will include: Build our automation capability from the ground up, designing the frameworks, tools and standards that will underpin quality across the Onviser platform. Develop and maintain automated testing across web and mobile, embedding quality into our CI/CD pipelines from day one. Champion quality engineering, combining automation with manual and exploratory testing to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Partner with Product, Design and Engineering to improve testability, reduce risk and build quality into every release. Drive continuous improvement, using data, modern tooling and best practice to evolve our automation strategy and quality processes. Shape the future of the platform, influencing how we build, test and deliver products as part of a small, high-performing team. About You You’re a quality-focused Automation Engineer who enjoys building rather than maintaining. You combine strong automation expertise with sound testing judgement, working collaboratively across product teams to deliver scalable, automation-first solutions while never losing sight of the customer experience. 5+ years' experience in QA, Software Testing or Automation Engineering within product teams. Proven experience designing and building test automation frameworks from the ground up. Strong experience with modern automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or Postman. Solid manual and exploratory testing capability with the ability to assess risk and define effective test strategies. Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins or CircleCI). Working knowledge of cloud environments, preferably AWS. Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and experimentation skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design and Engineering teams to build quality into every release. ISTQB certification (or equivalent) is advantageous. Why This is The Place for You Our culture is what sets us apart. We set ourselves high standards, ensuring our work environment is one where people thrive and also have fun. We invest significantly in the well-being of our people and are intentional about celebrating wins. We offer a hybrid model that empowers you to balance work and home life seamlessly. Competitive base salary + bonus package paid twice a year, additional KiwiSaver contribution, corporate benefits, and more! Well-being benefits including health insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and discounted gym membership. Access to ongoing training & support. Proactive Health & Wellbeing Committee that organises a full calendar of events and initiatives that support Social Connection, Community, and Mental Health. Comfortable and central Auckland CBD office location. Applicants Applicants for this position should hold a valid visa to work full-time in NZ. #J-18808-Ljbffr
