Job Description
Location: Sydney, Australia or Wellington, New Zealand. We are open to candidates in either location. The Role: OrbitRemit is a leading global money transfer platform, and we are hiring a UX/UI Designer to shape how millions of people experience sending money across borders. This role owns product and app design end to end, and sets the design direction and standards that shape our web, brand and comms. Reporting to our Head of Product and working closely with the CMO, engineering, and marketing, you will lead design across the customer journey: our transfer app, sign-up and KYC flows, and the new products and services on our roadmap. You will also own our design system and set the creative direction for our web, brand and comms surfaces, with the marketing team leading day-to-day production. The role blends deep product design craft with creative leadership across the wider experience. We take an AI first approach to how we work. You will be equally comfortable prototyping in Figma, generating variants with AI tools, and shipping polished production assets. You care about craft, but you move fast and you use every tool available to get there. This is a rare opportunity to be the design voice in a profitable, PE backed fintech at an inflection point, as we continue to develop products and features that delight our customers. Key Responsibilities: Own the end to end design of our customer app and web product, from money transfer flows and sign-up to account management and the new propositions on our roadmap. Translate customer research and product strategy into intuitive, friction-free experiences that convert and retain. Partner with engineering to ship pixel-perfect, accessible interfaces across iOS, Android and web. Contribute to and evolve our design system so we scale consistency as the product surface grows. Web & Marketing Design Set the design direction for orbitremit.com, corridor pages, and campaign landing pages, partnering with the marketing team who lead day-to-day execution. Provide creative direction and design review for growth experiments, A/B tests, and paid media, stepping in hands-on where it moves the needle. Brand & Comms Design Own and evolve the OrbitRemit design system, ensuring visual consistency across product, web, and comms as we scale. Steward the brand identity, setting standards and providing creative direction that the wider marketing team executes against day to day. Bring your craft to high-impact brand moments and campaign concepts where a design lead’s touch matters most. Research & AI-Native Craft Partner with the Head of Product on customer research (interviews, usability testing, prototypes) to keep design decisions grounded in real customer insight. Embrace an AI first approach to design: Figma AI, Claude, v0, Midjourney, and whatever comes next. Use these tools to explore more directions, iterate faster, and ship higher quality work. Bring a strong point of view. We want a designer who proposes, not one who waits for briefs. What you’ll bring: Required 3+ years of UX and design experience covering both web/app UX and marketing/brand design. We are open to mid-level or senior candidates. The right portfolio and range matter more than years on the CV. Fluency in common UX patterns across web, apps, and marketing sites, with an eye for when a familiar pattern serves the user better than a novel one. A portfolio that shows range: shipped product work, marketing web design, and brand or campaign craft. We want to see how you think, not just what you delivered. Expert in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout and design systems. Comfort with an AI first approach to design, with hands-on experience using AI tools (Figma AI, v0, image generation, etc) and curiosity to keep testing what is possible. Strong visual craft. Typography, hierarchy, and interaction detail matter to you. Experience partnering with product managers and engineers to ship, not just design in isolation. Ability to move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution. In a team our size, both matter every week. Experience in FinTech, e-commerce, or another regulated B2C environment. Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and designing for diverse, multi-language user bases. Motion, prototyping, or light front-end skills (HTML/CSS, Framer, Webflow). Experience contributing to or building a design system from scratch. An interest in cross-border payments, migrant customer segments, or emerging market fintech. Why Orbit? Work with a passionate, fun and supportive team. Hybrid working with modern offices in Sydney or Wellington. Continuous learning and development opportunities, including AI tooling budget. Help us make a meaningful impact for our customers, many of whom are migrants sending money home to support their families. About OrbitRemit: OrbitRemit is where money can buy happiness.
