Project Engineer

Todd Energy, a subsidiary of the Todd Group, is a producer of natural gas, providing more than 20% of New Zealand's primary energy supply. Todd Energy is also responsible for operating and maintaining Todd's generation assets, including gas peaking plants. We're looking for a Project Engineer to join the team delivering the Te Rahui Project. Based in New Plymouth, with monthly travel to Taupō, you'll work on a significant project while gaining exposure from early planning through to construction and commissioning. About the role This role is about helping the project team make well-informed decisions. Working alongside the Project Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring project information is accurate, current and visible. From budgets and forecasts through to schedules, risks and progress updates, you'll help provide the reporting and insights that keep the project moving in the right direction. You'll also contribute engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, working alongside technical specialists, contractors and operational teams to support safe and practical project outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Develop and maintain project reporting, forecasts and performance updates Monitor project budgets, schedules, commitments and project changes Support project governance, assurance and approval processes Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities Assist with project risk identification and mitigation Contribute to project close-out activities and lessons learnt reviews Be part of a project that's helping shape the next chapter of New Zealand's energy landscape. About you You enjoy making sense of moving parts and keeping things organised when priorities are competing. You're naturally proactive, pay attention to detail, and don't wait to be asked before following something up. You communicate clearly, build positive working relationships, and are comfortable working with people from a range of technical and operational backgrounds. Shifting gears comes naturally to you, whether you are analysing reports at a desk or spending time on-site with contractors and ops teams. Most importantly, you take pride in delivering work that others can rely on. Key requirements for the role: Experience supporting engineering, infrastructure, utilities, industrial or capital projects Strong capability in project reporting, forecasting and project controls Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience is highly desirable Exposure to solar or renewable energy projects would be advantageous, but is not essential Experience working alongside construction contractors, engineering consultants or project delivery partners What we can offer you: Competitive remuneration with a discretionary performance-based bonus.
