AskOtago, the University's Service Centre, is the one-stop shop for all questions related to the University of Otago. You will play a key part in this team, working to assist University students, staff, visitors, and other customers with their queries and questions regarding life and work at Otago.

We are recruiting enthusiastic and proactive people to join our team as Service Representatives. In these positions, you will be part of a dynamic team committed to providing an excellent customer experience.

You will work across a variety of channels to assist our customers. Using available information, you will understand the customer's situation and provide a tailored service to ensure first-contact resolution wherever appropriate.

AskOtago is the first point of contact for university customers, including current and prospective students, staff, visitors, alumni, and members of the wider community. We support a broad range of enquiries and connect customers with the information, services, and support they need across the University.

Recruitment process

Once you have submitted your application through our recruitment system, we will assess your submission. You may then be invited to complete a skills assessment and, if applicable, reference checks will be requested. The final step of the selection process will include attendance at an assessment centre.

There are multiple positions available. Successful applicants will be required to work:
A minimum of 15 hours per week during the period April to October; and
Full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) during the periods January to March and November to December. Additional work up to full-time is available during July.

The appointment range for this role is $63,508 to $68,185. Top of range $73,640 pro rata.

Customer service is integral to AskOtago; it is therefore important that we are available to answer queries Monday to Saturday. AskOtago operating hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday. Staff work on a rostered basis, and successful applicants must be available to work shifts scheduled within the service operating hours, Monday to Saturday.

The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Children's Act 2014. Candidates who successfully reach the final stages of the recruitment process will be required to undergo a safety check.
