Payroll Administrator
Are you an organised and detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment? Rotorua Lakes Council is looking for a Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll team and help ensure our people are paid accurately, on time, every time.
This role is ideally suited to someone seeking 32 hours per week, however we are open to discussing flexibility for the right candidate, with the role potentially increasing to up to 40 hours per week.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will support the administration of Council's payroll functions, assisting with multiple payrolls and ensuring compliance with employment legislation, payroll processes, and contractual obligations. You will play an important role in maintaining accurate payroll records, processing payroll transactions, managing deductions, responding to payroll queries, and supporting the delivery of weekly and fortnightly pay runs.
Working as part of a small and supportive team, you will provide payroll advice and assistance to employees and managers across the organisation, contribute to payroll reporting, and help ensure best-practice payroll processes are maintained. You will also have opportunities to broaden your knowledge and provide cover for other payroll team members when required.
To be successful in this role, you will have previous payroll experience within a medium to large organisation and a sound understanding of payroll processes and employment legislation. You will possess excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are also essential.
Experience with Pay Global and/or DataPay payroll systems would be advantageous, as would previous local government experience.
At Rotorua Lakes Council, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our partnership with Te Arawa and are committed to creating a workplace culture built on collaboration, integrity, innovation and continuous improvement.
If you are looking for a payroll role that offers variety, flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a high-performing organisation serving our community, we would love to hear from you.
