Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust (The Trust) is the Post-Settlement Governance Entity responsible for managing the Treaty Settlement assets on behalf of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua. The role Are you a Chartered Accountant seeking an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the long-term prosperity of Ngāti Kahungunu? We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support high-quality financial management, reporting, and analysis across the Settlement Trust Group. Working closely with the CFO, you will prepare management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and performance analysis while ensuring compliance and strong stewardship of iwi assets. The role includes supporting month-end and year-end processes, maintaining general ledger integrity, strengthening internal controls, and assisting with tax compliance. You will also provide commercial and investment support through financial planning, due diligence, treasury management, investment reporting, and strategic financial analysis. As a trusted business partner, you will work collaboratively with operational teams to interpret financial results, provide commercial insights, evaluate business opportunities, and help build financial capability across the organisation, contributing to informed decision-making and sustainable growth. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3–5 years’ experience in accounting, financial analysis, or commercial finance. Strong technical accounting knowledge, including NZ IFRS. Experience preparing management accounts and consolidated financial reports. Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively. A proactive approach and commitment to continuous improvement. Cultural competency and a genuine willingness to work in a kaupapa Māori environment. Highly regarded: Experience working within iwi, Māori, or kaupapa Māori organisations. Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within governance and operational settings. Experience with investment reporting, commercial due diligence, or business case analysis. Familiarity with Xero and Smartly Payroll systems.
