Our Public Sector Monitoring team in the Strategy puni is looking for 2 x Kaitohutohu Matua | Senior Advisor. Public Sector Monitoring helps the Ministry deliver on its statutory monitoring function and strengthen its influence on public sector performance. Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity Public Sector Monitoring sits at the centre of Te Puni Kōkiri's statutory monitoring role, providing trusted evidence, insights and advice that strengthen accountability for outcomes for Māori. As a Senior Advisor, you'll play a key role in delivering strategic monitoring programmes focused on Whānau Ora, Treaty Settlements, and broader public sector performance. You'll generate and communicate insights from data and evidence, support monitoring initiatives that influence system performance, and work with agencies to strengthen monitoring capability and accountability. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data, policy, performance and public sector stewardship. You will: Lead monitoring initiatives that influence public sector performance. Provide trusted advice and insights to Ministers, executives and senior decision-makers. Translate complex data into compelling evidence for action and drive better decision-making through high-quality monitoring and analysis. Build strong relationships across agencies to strengthen accountability for outcomes for Māori. Shape monitoring frameworks, tools and system-wide approaches. The likely appointment range is $105,100 - $116,777 based on skills and experience. The full grade for this role is $105,100 - $140,132 with a mid-point of $116,777. You’ll be a strategic thinker who enjoys working across complex issues, building relationships, and translating evidence into meaningful action. We’re looking for someone who has: Strong understanding of New Zealand's public sector, including machinery of government and accountability frameworks Experience developing high-quality advice, briefing materials and reports for senior leaders, executives and Ministers Demonstrated ability to analyse complex information and translate data into actionable insights and recommendations Experience leading projects and delivering outcomes in a collaborative environment Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence without formal authority Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to varied audiences Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience working alongside Māori communities, organisations or stakeholders An understanding of performance, monitoring, evaluation, data or evidence-based decision-making Experience in communications, data visualisation, dashboarding, or designing accessible reporting products would be an advantage but is not essential.
