Job Description
Cubic Transportation Systems – Wellington Central, North Island The Senior IT Architect is a subject matter expert in the design and delivery of IT infrastructure solutions. This role is responsible for reviewing and validating infrastructure designs from an operational perspective within transport mobility systems. Key areas include server and storage architecture, networking, virtualization, monitoring and management platforms, PCI compliance and disaster recovery. The role provides advanced architecture design, engineering oversight, and system integration expertise. It also supports bid, tender, and variation processes by developing detailed infrastructure designs and cost estimates covering build, operations, and ongoing maintenance. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Senior IT Architect collaborates across technical and business teams while serving as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. Key responsibilities Lead the design and review of end-to-end infrastructure solutions, including compute, storage, networks, and data protection mechanisms for business-critical systems Define system requirements, architecture, and integration approaches aligned to operational and business needs Drive system-level design, including functional partitioning and architecture definition Continuously improve cloud and infrastructure environments, including cost optimization and financial management Ensure high availability, resiliency, and scalability across all platforms Oversee implementation of backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies Lead the design and implementation of new solutions in collaboration with Engineering, DevOps, and cross-functional teams Work closely with Release and Change Management to ensure deployments are well-planned, documented, and executed successfully with appropriate rollback strategies Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers and support teams Develop strong client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor About you Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, IT or a related discipline 8–10 years' experience in IT infrastructure, including high-performance cloud environments Strong architecture experience across servers, storage, networks, and applications Advanced expertise in Azure and AWS, including automation and cloud-native services Proven ability to develop detailed infrastructure designs and cost estimates for new customer solutions Advanced knowledge of high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies Experience with advanced network topologies (e.g. load balancers, firewalls, virtual networks) Familiarity with call centre technologies (e.g., ACD/PBX, CTI, IVR) Strong experience in performance system tuning and performance optimization Knowledge of implementation and configuration of monitoring and alerting systems #J-18808-Ljbffr
