Heights Recruitment – Christchurch, South Island With a strong pipeline of land development and civil infrastructure projects across Canterbury and throughout New Zealand, this established consultancy is continuing to grow and is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to play a key role in its future. You’ll lead projects from concept through to construction, build lasting client relationships, mentor junior engineers, and take ownership of delivering high quality outcomes while helping shape the continued growth of the business. The role This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership position where your technical expertise will be matched by your ability to manage projects, build client relationships and support the development of those around you. You’ll deliver high-quality civil engineering solutions across a broad range of land development and infrastructure projects, managing work from feasibility and consenting through to detailed design, construction and project completion. Working closely with clients, councils and contractors, you’ll confidently oversee project delivery while ensuring practical, buildable and commercially successful outcomes. Alongside leading projects, you’ll play an important role in mentoring graduate and intermediate engineers by reviewing designs, providing technical guidance and helping develop the capability of the wider team. What we are looking for: A Civil Engineering qualification. Around 10+ years of New Zealand civil engineering consulting experience. Proven experience delivering land development and civil infrastructure projects from concept through to construction. Strong project management and client relationship skills with the ability to work autonomously. Mentor graduate and intermediate engineers while helping shape the next generation of civil professionals. A passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers. Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D capability, including earthworks modelling, roading design, stormwater, wastewater and water supply design, surface modelling, grading and construction documentation. Excellent communication skills, commercial awareness and a collaborative leadership style. Applicants must have New Zealand residency or hold a valid New Zealand work visa.
