We are seeking a recent graduate or early-career professional (up to 3 years’ experience) to join our Water Resources team in Tauranga. Based in our vibrant multidisciplinary office, you will work alongside industry-leading specialists across a range of environmental and engineering disciplines, gaining exposure to diverse projects and development opportunities. While focused on supporting water resources projects in Tauranga, you will also collaborate with teams across New Zealand as part of PDP’s one-team culture. What you’ll do Key aspects of the role: Prepare groundwater and surface water quantity and quality assessments. Undertake environmental effects assessments relating to freshwater systems (groundwater systems, rivers, lakes and wetlands). Conduct field work to support investigations or environmental monitoring programmes, potentially including drilling supervision, aquifer hydraulic testing, water sampling and water level/flow monitoring. Conduct statistical and data analysis (GIS) and conceptual model development. Analyse and model groundwater and surface water processes using advanced software, coding, and spreadsheet tools. Prepare or contribute to technical reports, assessments proposals and tenders. Support project planning, scope definition, resourcing input, and issue resolution in collaboration with project managers and technical leaders. Engage with clients, regulators, iwi, and other stakeholders on environmental science matters. Exercise sound professional judgement and identifying and escalating environmental risk, uncertainty, or non‑compliance in a timely way. Support and model safe work practices to help maintain a safe work environment for all employees, subcontractors, visitors and the public. What you’ll bring Degree in Environmental or Earth Sciences, Water Resources or Geology with a clear water resources component from a recognised university. Postgraduate qualification and/or professional accreditation, or progression toward professional recognition, where applicable. Typically, 0-3 years of relevant industry experience. Demonstrated experience delivering complex environmental assessments and advisory work. Pragmatic, solutions-focused with sound scientific judgement, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail. Effective communicator and collaborative team member who works independently when required but also contributes positively to multidisciplinary teams.
