Job Description

The General Practitioner will provide a high standard of personal primary and continuing care for individuals and families within the patient population. They will integrate physical, psychological, social and spiritual factors in their consideration of health and wellness and will work in collaboration with both TROTR health workers and other health providers to support excellent care of clients. Wellness promotion, disease prevention and curative medicine will be practised in an integrated way. The General Practitioner will work from practice rooms within the Ora Toa group, with current locations including The 502 Rangatahi Ora, Cannons Creek, Takapūwāhia, Waitangirua, and Pōneke, Mount Cook, Wellington. In addition to clinic-based work, the General Practitioner may be required to work in community settings across the patient population, including home visits, mobile clinics, or other approved venues. Key responsibilities Work to the standards of clinical care established by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and ensure that practices remain current through ongoing training and peer supervision Participate in Ora Toa Community Health Services activities as agreed Communicate personal activities or movements and discuss their impact on team functioning and patient care Ensure thorough and accurate patient notes are maintained Contribute as appropriate to the design of service population profile and patient management information systems Comply with services appointment timetable as far as is practicable Remain current in clinical practices through ongoing training and peer supervision Maintain competency requirements throughout employment Actively encourage the development of trainees placed with the practice Uphold the Vision and Values across all aspects of the role and actively engage with all people to sustain productive relationships About you Holds a current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa (Annual Practicing Certificate) Current CPR Certificate to a minimum Level 5 Current Medical Protection Society membership or agreed alternative Membership of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners Te Whare Tohu Rata o Aotearoa Vocational registration as a General Practitioner with the Medical Council of New Zealand Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa (preferred) Experience in a Patient Management System (e.g.: Medtech and Noted) Working knowledge of office technology and ideally Office 365 Completes Code of Rights training at commencement in role and as required throughout Completes Bi-cultural/Te Tiriti o Te Waitangi training at commencement in role and as required throughout Completes Family Violence Intervention training at commencement in role and as required throughout About us Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira (TROTR) operates Ora Toa Health Services.
