Coastal Services is a leading engineering and fabrication company servicing the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Energy, Bulk Storage, Renewables, Infrastructure and Construction sectors throughout New Zealand. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and professional Class 5 Driver / Hiab Operator to join our team based in New Plymouth. This is more than a driving role. We are looking for someone who can safely and professionally represent our business on the road while also contributing to workshop, yard, fabrication and project activities when transport requirements allow. We are ideally seeking an individual with a trade background who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a highly capable engineering team. The Role You will be responsible for: Transporting materials, fabricated components and equipment throughout New Zealand Operating truck-mounted cranes (Hiab) safely and efficiently Loading, securing and unloading a wide range of engineering and fabrication products Conducting pre-start inspections and ensuring vehicle compliance requirements are met Coordinating deliveries and collections with clients, suppliers and project teams Assisting with yard operations, logistics and material handling Supporting workshop and project teams when transport workloads allow Maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism and customer service Representing Coastal Services professionally when dealing with clients and suppliers About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Current New Zealand Class 5 Licence Current Hiab certification and operating experience Minimum 6 years' heavy vehicle driving experience Strong understanding of transport compliance and safety requirements Proven experience transporting oversized, specialised or industrial freight Excellent communication and organisational skills Professional presentation and customer-focused attitude Ability to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities A proactive and reliable approach to work Pre Employment Medical, Drug and Alcohol Screening Highly Desirable We are particularly interested in candidates who also have: A trade background in engineering, fabrication, welding, mechanical maintenance, construction, or a related field Experience working in industrial, manufacturing or construction environments Dogman or rigging experience Site Safe or similar industry training Experience with cranes and lifting operations Practical workshop or site experience Travel Requirements While the vast majority of our work is based in Taranaki, there are occasional projects and deliveries throughout New Zealand that may require working away from home for short periods. This is not a regular requirement and occurs infrequently, however applicants should be willing to travel and stay away when required to support project and client needs What's In It For You?
