Job Description

Have real world impact with this newly created role with an excellent market leading organisation. Why You’d Like It If you're a sharp, inquisitive data professional who loves unpacking human behaviour through product data, this newly created role is a cracker. Moving beyond simple reporting, this opportunity puts you front and centre of real world impact, giving you the autonomy to build a product analytics function from the ground up while staying hands-on with deep-dive analysis. The Story As the organisation continues to evolve its digital capability and customer ecosystem, there is a clear demand to better measure, understand, and optimise product performance. While the team possesses deep analytical strength, there is a specific need to introduce dedicated product analytics capability. This role has been established to bridge the gap between technical datasets and strategic product direction, ensuring every new feature, loyalty initiative, and digital experience delivers genuine, measurable value. Company Profile Operating at scale within the NZ market, this enterprise brand delivers customer-centric digital products and experiences relied upon by thousands daily. With a collaborative, forward-thinking tech culture, the organisation places high value on evidence-based decision-making, genuine teamwork, and continuous improvement. Your Role Reporting directly to the Data & Insights Team Lead, you will take ownership of shaping how product success is defined, measured, and understood across the business. Your day-to-day focus will include: Partnering with product, marketing, and engineering teams to define clear success metrics, hypotheses, and experimentation frameworks prior to feature launches. Designing and evaluating A/B and multivariate tests, cohort analyses, and significance testing to quantify real business and customer uplift. Setting up robust monitoring mechanics using transactional and sales data to track feature performance in the real world. Querying large datasets independently using SQL to dig beneath the surface and uncover key trends, mechanics, and progression paths. Translating complex quantitative findings into clear, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations for commercial and technical stakeholders. Building out functional dashboards in Databricks and modern analytics tools to make product health visible. Helping upskill cross-functional team members, embedding a self-serve analytics mindset and best practices across the engineering and product domains. Benefits Flexible Working: Enjoy a balanced hybrid structure with dedicated collaborative days in the central Auckland office (Tuesday and Thursday, core hours 10am-4pm) and the rest working remotely. Impact & Ownership: As a first-of-its-kind position, you have a blank canvas to set up frameworks, influence data capture early in product roadmaps, and shape the function. Generous Remuneration Package: Highly competitive base salary accompanied by an excellent benefits package. Supportive Culture: Join a grounded, highly skilled insights and data science squad that values open feedback, continuous learning and realistic workloads. Your Fit To hit the ground running in this consultative, analytically rigorous role, you will bring: Proven hands-on experience in product analytics, customer insights or a quantitative decision-science environment. Strong expertise writing complex SQL queries independently across large, multi-table datasets. Deep practical knowledge of experiment design (A/B and multivariate testing), cohort/segmentation analysis and statistical significance testing. Outstanding communication skills with a knack for turning complex data into clear, engaging commercial stories for non-technical stakeholders. A curious, proactive mindset‑comfortable asking smart follow‑up questions, navigating ambiguity building strong relationships across engineering and product teams. Exposure to modern visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, Yellowfin, or similar) is ideal, while experience with Python or PySpark is a welcome bonus. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand. If you are not a NZ Citizen, you must have the right of permanent residence or a valid work visa. #J-18808-Ljbffr
