We're looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Activity Centre & Recovery Lead to lead our vibrant Dunedin Activity Centre. About Able Minds Able Minds is one of the South's leading community mental health, addiction and wellbeing organisations, supporting tangata whaiora, whānau and communities across Otago and Southland. Our services include Whānau Support, Activity Centres and Recovery Support, CUMIA (Children Understanding Mental Illness and Addiction), RAW (Rangatahi and Wellbeing), EduConnect Attendance Services, and Timeout Contact. Everything we do is guided by compassion, inclusion, recovery, cultural safety and empowering people to live well. About the Role Our Dunedin Activity Centre is a welcoming, community-based recovery service that supports adults experiencing mental distress, addiction and a range of disabilities to build confidence, develop life skills and strengthen connections within their community. Participants attend independently or, where appropriate, with a support person. Our focus is on creating an inclusive environment where everyone can participate, contribute and continue their personal recovery journey. As the Activity Centre & Recovery Lead, you'll create opportunities for people to discover their strengths, explore new interests, develop practical skills and build meaningful relationships. Facilitating engaging wellbeing and recovery programmes. Supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals. Planning creative activities, community outings and life skills programmes. Leading a small Activity Centre team. Building strong relationships with community organisations and local networks. Promoting inclusion, participation and recovery through innovative initiatives. Working alongside a passionate team committed to making a genuine difference. No two days are ever the same and that's exactly what makes this role so rewarding. About You We're looking for someone who: Is passionate about supporting people experiencing mental distress, addiction, disabilities and other life challenges. Believes in strengths-based, person-directed and recovery-focused practice. Builds genuine, respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Is creative, organised and enjoys developing engaging group programmes. Can motivate and inspire others to achieve their goals. Is confident leading activities while also providing one-to-one support when needed. Works well independently and collaboratively. Has excellent communication, planning and organisational skills. Is confident using computer systems and maintaining accurate records. Holds a qualification in mental health, disability support, health, social services, education or a related field (preferred). Holds a current Full New Zealand Driver Licence . Lived experience of mental distress, addiction or disability either personally or through supporting whānau is welcomed and valued.
