Southern Cross Healthcare – Hamilton East, North Island Southern Cross Hamilton Hospital is a well-equipped private surgical hospital based in central Hamilton, proudly providing a wide range of surgical specialties to the wider Waikato community for many years. Our hospital has eight fully equipped operating theatres, 43 inpatient beds (including four high-dependency unit beds), and a purpose-built Day Surgery Unit. We offer a range of specialties, including but not limited to, orthopaedics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, spine, and general surgery specialties. Comfortable facilities, combined with the very latest in technology and on-site support services, enable independent credentialled medical practitioners to undertake a wide range of procedures. These include routine investigations to complex surgery, with their expertise supported by caring, professional nursing teams. We're looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated Ward team. This is an incredibly rewarding role where you'll work closely alongside our Registered Nurses to support patients through their surgical journey. From the moment they arrive on the ward to when they're ready to head home, you'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive exceptional care and support. As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll be a valued part of our team, helping patients with personal cares, mobility, and everyday needs while supporting a positive experience during their recovery. Your caring nature, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile will help patients feel safe, supported, and well cared for. No two days are ever the same. You'll assist with patient transfers, meal services, and maintaining a clean and welcoming ward environment, while also providing support across a range of clinical and non-clinical activities. This is a fast-paced role that offers plenty of variety, making it ideal for someone who enjoys staying active and thrives in a team environment. This is a full-time (1 FTE) permanent position, working on a rotating roster across Monday to Sunday, including morning, afternoon, and night shifts. New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) is desirable A minimum of one year's experience working as a Healthcare Assistant or similar role within a surgical ward environment A genuine passion for supporting patients and contributing to positive healthcare outcomes Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a busy ward setting A proactive, team-oriented approach, with the confidence to take initiative when required Completion of NCEA Level 2 / Sixth Form Certificate (or equivalent) is desirable Previous surgical ward experience is advantageous Flexibility to work a rotating roster including AM, afternoon, and night shifts Competitive Rewards: Attractive remuneration package, relocation allowance, and employee referral bonus scheme.
