Established four years ago, Care Property Stays manages a large and growing portfolio of short-term rental properties across the city. Turning around guest-ready properties, on time and to a consistently high standard, sits at the heart of what we do, and the Cleaning Coordinators are central to making that happen. Role Summary This is a hands‑on, on‑the‑ground role. You'll be out supporting cleaners and contractors across our property portfolio, coaching and training the cleaning team, running quality audits, and jumping in to clean yourself when needed. It's a mobile role, so you'll need your own car and will spend most of your day moving between properties across Christchurch. We have a fleet of e‑scooters available to help you get around our central CBD properties when traffic is at its worst. Good time management and the ability to plan an efficient daily route matter a lot here. Typical hours worked are between 9 - 5 pm. In addition, this role includes an on-call rotation: one week every month, you'll be on call from 5:00pm – 10:00pm to handle after-hours issues (e.g. urgent turnover problems, check-in issues, or urgent guest requests etc) that can't wait until the next shift. Key Responsibilities Coordination of staff Coordinate and schedule cleaning staff across multiple properties. Analyse and adjust daily cleaning schedules to match check-in/check-out times, balancing workload across contract cleaners and coordinators so every property is turned around on time. Liaise with cleaners on the ground. Check in regularly throughout the day to confirm jobs are progressing, clarify any special requests for a property, and troubleshoot issues in real time. Quality Audits & Standards Carry out regular audits to ensure properties are meeting Care Property Stays standards and provide clear, constructive feedback to cleaners and contractors. Document audit results and work with the cleaning team to remedy repeat quality or safety issues. Feed audit trends into the Cleaner Performance Ranking System to support fair, data-led allocation of work. Hands-On Cleaning Support Step in to complete or assist with turnover cleans during peak periods, staff shortages, or urgent same-day turnarounds. Model the cleaning standards and pace expected of the wider team. Training and wider team support Support training of new cleaning staff and contractors, conducting inductions and in person training. Onboard and train new cleaners on our procedures, safety protocols, and quality expectations, including use of our software for task completion and audits. Act as a first point of contact for cleaners and contractors on the ground, escalating conduct, performance, or safety concerns to the Operations Manager in line with company process. Other miscellaneous tasks Other adhoc tasks to support the Operations Team where necessary. What We're Looking For Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, hospitality, or facilities coordination, ideally with some team leadership or supervisory exposure. Strong organisational skills and comfort managing multiple properties, schedules, and priorities at once. Confident, clear communicator who can give direct feedback and work constructively with cleaners, contractors, and coordinators. Tech-savvy and quick to pick up new apps and systems, familiarity with AI tools and Google Suite is highly regarded. A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence and your own reliable car. Excellent time management and a high level of autonomy, and able to plan and pivot across multiple sites, while making decisions on the ground without constant oversight. A practical, hands‑on approach and willing to get stuck into a clean when the team needs it. Lives within Christchurch City and able to work a rotating on-call rotation (5:00pm – 10:00pm, one week every month) as part of the role.
