Job Description

The Opportunity You’re a technical accountant who wants more than maintaining existing processes. You want to design them. This is a brand-new Group Accountant role reporting directly to the General Manager – Finance in a multi-entity group that’s scaling quickly. You’ll own the design and delivery of the group consolidation process, produce consolidated reporting for the Board and funders, and take a leading role in the Group’s technical accounting workstreams. You’ll also own covenant monitoring and funder reporting – work that sits at the centre of how the business is financed and governed. Because the Group is on a steep growth curve, you’ll get involved in future workstreams – supporting due diligence, funding applications, acquisition onboarding, cash planning and systems improvements. You’ll shape how group reporting works as the business scales, rather than inheriting a rigid structure. The Company You’ll join a dynamic New Zealand property and ventures group with a growing portfolio of entities and a clear expansion agenda. The organisation values technical excellence, attention to detail and clear communication. Finance works closely with operational and commercial teams, and the culture supports people who can design practical solutions and deliver them in a fast-moving environment. This is a Christchurch-based role within a collaborative, growth-focused finance function. The Role You’ll be the technical backbone of group reporting. Key responsibilities include: Design and maintain the group consolidation process across the Property Group, Ventures businesses and other entities – including intercompany eliminations and accurate entity-level data feeds Produce consolidated Group financial information for Board reporting, banks and funders, annual financial statements and funding applications Lead the technical accounting workstream for IFRS adoption – policy assessment, transition adjustments, disclosures and financial statement compilation Own the accuracy of covenant reporting to banks and funders, maintain the covenant register, monitor ongoing compliance and elevate risks promptly Develop and maintain the Group consolidated budget model and identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and systems Support the transition of routine statutory accounts and tax compliance to external advisors, reviewing deliverables and protecting quality and timelines Contribute to technical and commercial projects as they arise – due diligence, funding applications, acquisition onboarding, cash planning and forecasting Your Profile You’re a technically strong CA who enjoys building processes and solving complex accounting problems. You’ll bring: Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification, plus 3+ years’ experience in audit and assurance at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm Hands-on experience of group consolidation, intercompany eliminations and multi-entity structures, with direct exposure to IFRS application and/or review Advanced Excel skills and the ability to design and implement new processes from scratch rather than only operate existing ones Strong stakeholder management – comfortable working with management, external advisors, banks/funders and non-accountants High attention to detail and technical rigour, balanced with the adaptability needed in a growing business Clear written and verbal communication Full working rights are required and no sponsorship is offered. #J-18808-Ljbffr
