Wairoa District Council is seeking a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Gaiety Theatre Assistant | Kaiāwhina Whare Tapere to help deliver an exceptional cinema experience for patrons at the iconic Gaiety Theatre. This is a varied and hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You'll be the welcoming face of the theatre, assisting customers, operating the box office, preparing refreshments, and ensuring the venue is clean, safe, and ready for every screening. About the Role Reporting to the Gaiety Theatre Manager, you will play an important part in the day‑to‑day operation of the theatre by: Providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment for all patrons. Operating the box office, including cash and EFTPOS transactions. Preparing and serving refreshments while maintaining food hygiene standards. Opening and preparing the theatre for screenings, including operating theatre equipment and conducting venue checks. Maintaining a clean and tidy environment by cleaning bathrooms, theatre seating areas, and public spaces after screenings. Completing stocktakes and reporting stock replenishment requirements. About you You are someone who: Enjoys interacting with people and delivering excellent customer service. Has strong interpersonal and communication skills. Is reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. Can follow procedures and instructions accurately. Is comfortable handling cash and completing basic calculations.
