We're looking for a Senior Systems Specialist to join our Private Cloud Squad and help shape the future of automation across our technology ecosystem. About the Squad The Private Cloud Squad sits within our Infrastructure Services Platform and provides the foundational services that power ASB's technology estate. The squad is responsible for server provisioning, vulnerability management, configuration management and compute services consumed by teams across the organisation. As technology continues to evolve, Private Cloud is expanding its focus to include strategic automation and cyber security initiatives, helping ASB leverage modern automation capabilities to improve efficiency, consistency and resilience across the enterprise. About the Role As a Senior Systems Specialist, you'll play a key role in developing and operating ASB's automation capability, helping to establish and mature our Automation Centre of Excellence. Working closely with technology teams across the organisation, you'll leverage the Ansible Automation Platform to reduce manual effort, improve operational consistency and enable teams to deliver better outcomes through automation. You'll combine deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement to guide automation adoption and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our platform and roadmap. Key Responsibilities Build, operate and continuously improve the Ansible Automation Platform Partner with technology teams to identify and implement automation opportunities Develop automation use cases that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort Contribute to the growth and maturity of ASB's Automation Centre of Excellence Collaborate with external vendors and technology partners Support ongoing platform reliability, maintenance and operational excellence Create and maintain technical documentation, standards and knowledge assets Contribute to squad planning, roadmap initiatives and continuous improvement activities Participate in after-hours support and maintenance activities when required About You You're an experienced infrastructure or Site Reliability Engineering professional who is passionate about automation and solving complex operational challenges. You enjoy working across teams, influencing technical direction and helping others adopt better ways of working. Whether you're already an Ansible specialist or have built significant automation capability in enterprise environments, you'll bring a combination of technical depth, practical problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Key Skills and Experience 5+ years' experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering or Site Reliability Engineering Strong automation and scripting experience within enterprise operational environments Experience with Ansible Automation Platform or comparable automation technologies Ability to guide and support teams through automation adoption and implementation Strong understanding of infrastructure operations and engineering best practices Experience working within Agile delivery environments Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills Ability to operate effectively within a regulated enterprise environment Highly regarded: Experience managing or supporting enterprise automation platforms Vulnerability management, server provisioning or VMware experience Cyber security, cloud or platform engineering certifications Experience working within large, complex technology environments Working for ASB At ASB, we're committed to helping our people grow and thrive both professionally and personally.
