Social Worker in Schools

Family Works Northern is a champion for children, providing professional counselling and social work in communities and schools and delivering programmes that bring about lasting change. On a day to day basis, you will be working in a local school/s setting, working with a case load of families, providing early intervention and preventive social work services tovulnerable children and teens; and their whanau. This includes individual and group work, and using ourstrengths-based, multi-systemic approach to encourage positive and lasting change. This opportunity is ideally suited to an early-career or graduate Social Worker who has gained some practical experience through employment, placements, or internships and is looking to further develop your skills in a supportive environment. To be successful as a Social Worker in Schools (SWIS)you will have a professional, warm and engaging nature; and have/ be: A tertiary level degree, majoring / specialised in Social Work Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board Full, clean NZ driverlicence, and a reliable vehicle Some experience working as a Social Worker Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families, the local school and your colleagues Excellent ability to maintain professional boundaries, meet KPI's and adhere to practice requirements Confident, working knowledge of Tikanga Maori; and commitment to working with Tangata Whenua Experience working with children in a school setting would be a distinct advantage Diversity & Inclusion at PSN We are committed to creating a diverse work place where you can look forward to feeling included and valued for your contribution.
