We’re on the hunt for one equally passionate high achievers to join our Summer Internship Program. We have a range of exciting R&D ideas in development and need your help to turn them into practical software solutions for marine products and testing. You will be joining our engineering team with a focus on software development for new products, design-to-cost initiatives, and research projects. You’ll work on software design, implementation, and testing, and contribute to the development of embedded and application-level software systems. As an intern, you will gain hands‑on experience in how software is developed and validated before product release. You’ll be involved in coding, debugging, and system integration, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions. At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver. Essential Functions: Assist in software development for embedded and application‑level systems. Collaborate with team members to design, implement, and test software features. Work with engineers to debug and troubleshoot software issues. Contribute to code reviews and documentation of software components. Support integration and validation of software with hardware systems. Participate in agile development processes and team meetings. Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way. Qualifications: You are currently studying a Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering degree or similar, ideally in your 3rd year of study. You demonstrate technical knowledge, a practical engineering and quality mindset, and a genuine interest in simulation, software development, or test automation. You have a methodical approach to problem‑solving and are comfortable writing, debugging, and maintaining code. Experience with test automation, device or game simulation, data conversion, networking, NMEA 2000, or AI-assisted coding is an advantage, but curiosity and a willingness to learn matter most. In return, you’ll learn from experienced software and quality engineers while building tools that have a measurable impact on product development, test quality, and release efficiency Internship Highlights: The Software Engineer Intern team plans to host one interns as part of our wider Intern Program. Over the 10‑week period, you’ll collaborate with your intern cohort on a set project and present your work to the business. Some interns may be invited to join the Navico graduate intake the following year. For students to be eligible for the grant they must: Have studied or be studying at a New Zealand tertiary education institute (note: students who have completed study overseas are not eligible). Be studying at NZQA level 6-10, or if study has been completed, the closing date of the last semester must be less than 12 months ago. Be studying science, technology, engineering, design or business. Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand. Not have been previously employed at the business unless part‑time or temporary.
