Unite Recruit is looking for a reliable and hardworking Labourer with Carpentry Experience to join a well-established construction team working on exciting projects in Picton. This role is ideal for someone with hands‑on carpentry or hammer hand experience who enjoys practical work and is confident using a variety of power tools. About the Role Working alongside experienced carpenters and site supervisors, you'll assist with a range of construction and carpentry tasks while helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities Assist carpenters with day-to-day construction tasks. Measure, cut and prepare building materials. Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Install framing, timber, cladding and other building materials as directed. Carry out general site labouring, lifting and material handling.Keep work areas clean, organised and safe. Assist with site setup and pack down. Follow site plans, instructions and Health & Safety procedures. Work collaboratively with the construction team to meet project deadlines. Tools You'll Be Confident Using We're looking for candidates with experience using tools such as: Nail Gun Power Drill Drop Saw Grinder Impact Driver Circular Saw (advantageous) Mitre Saw (advantageous) Hand tools including tape measure, levels, chisels and hammers What We're Looking For Essential Previous experience as a Construction Labourer, Hammer Hand, Carpenter Assistant, or similar. Practical carpentry experience in residential or commercial construction. Confident using common hand and power tools. Ability to read measurements and follow instructions. Physically fit and capable of manual work. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Reliable and punctual. Good communication skills. Ability to work well within a team. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Highly Desirable Site Safe Passport. Full Class 1 Driver Licence and reliable transport. Experience in residential or commercial construction. Basic understanding of NZ building and Health & Safety requirements. What's in It for You? $26–$28 per hour, depending on experience. Full-time hours with immediate start.
