Golf Operations Manager/Golf Professional Dunedin Golf Club Incorporated – South Dunedin, South Island Job Title: Golf Operations Manager/ Professional (GOM/P) Location: Dunedin Golf Club at Chisholm Links. Reports To: Board Executive team About Us Dunedin Golf Club (Chisholm Links) in operation since the 1930’s, is a stunning 18-hole championship links, located adjacent to the St Kilda and Tomahawk beaches on the Dunedin city coastline with spectacular Pacific Ocean views. The course has 5 sets of tees to accommodate golfers of various skill/strength. Being a links course its built on old sand dunes it is gently rolling terrain with course winding its way through the dunes amongst the fescue and marron grasses, ice plant, lupins and native bush framing the holes. Small pot bunkers, some elevated tees and greens make for a very interesting round of golf on excellent putting surfaces. The course is only 10min from downtown Dunedin in the heart of the community with public transport to the course entrance and 3 schools within walking distance. The Role We are seeking a highly motivated, customer-focused Golf Professional to join our team, who is capable to deliver the necessary golf operation administration functions and player development services, whilst executing daily pro-shop operations as the club’s key interface person for members and visitors to the course. Key Responsibilities Golf Operations & Customer Service: required to manage course tee sheet using Dot Golf, collection of all green fees and membership fee payments, new member signings, golf cart fleet management and presentation, oversee daily pro-shop duties, staff rostering. The role requires the GOM/P to work alongside the Club Manager, Men’s and Women’s club Captains regarding club competition play and Course Management team. (Greens superintendent and Head of grounds team) Coaching & Instruction: Deliver tailored, one-to-one or group lessons and clinics for golfers of all ages and skill levels as scheduled. This will include introductory classes for beginners like “She Loves Golf programs” and Junior programs (for nominal fee to grow m’ship) Event Management: work alongside Club Captains in the organising, running, and scoring of club competitions and tournaments. Outside events - corporate days, group visits, private tournaments to be managed by the GOM/P. GOM/P will be a member of the clubs Match Committee) Retail & Merchandising: Maintain a well-stocked and visually appealing golf-shop, manage all income and sales in a professional manner and the clubs POS system requires. Provide expert equipment advice and regular equipment demo days. Provide a full equipment repair service. Provide the Club membership with a special 10% discount on all items purchased over $50. The club will also encourage vouchers won in competitions to be used in the Golf Shop, alongside the Food and Beverage outlets and payment of weekly competition fees. Golf shop retail operation and club hire is to be owned and operated by GOM/P. (Open for discussion) Facility Management: Oversee the warmup range operation> this is for members and green fee paying visitors, and individuals receiving golf tuition only. Manage daily presentation and use of golf cart fleet, (cleaning, charging, cart hire H&S and damage liability forms to be completed prior to hire). Rental Sets (standard and Premium) must be well maintained for visitor use. The collection of daily Green fees, member subscription, new member fees/deposits and the Kiosk operation is functioning at all times with revenue balanced daily. Key Requirements Qualifications: PGA of NZ (Professional Golfers Association) qualification or equivalent recognised industry certification from outside NZ. A PGANZ trainee who may only have the final yr to go to complete full qualification. Experience: Proven experience in day to day management of course tee sheet and starting procedures, event management, dot golf administration, golf-shop retail and equipment repair services, enthusiastic golf instructor, and good understanding of cash management systems and Zero accounting system are an advantage Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with an approachable, professional, and positive demeanour. Flexibility: Golf Operation is required to be open 364 days a year (excludes Xmas day) this is a 7 day a week operation, weekend work, public holidays, and some evenings are required to fulfil this role as the GOM/P. Compliance: A NZ resident, or have required working visa’s for New Zealand and a current NZ drivers licence. References – Referee’s (min 2) to be provided for character reference check. This will require contact details of referees to be provided so we can contact. One should be a former employer. Shop casual Staff – the Golf club covers a set number of hours per week and agreed holiday period for the GOM/P so the shop remains open for 364 days a year.
