We are looking for an organised,customer-focused Ward Clerk to provide essential administrative and clericalsupport to our busy maternity service. About the Role As a Ward Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring thesmooth day-to-day operation of the unit. You will be the first point of contactfor patients, whānau, visitors and staff, providing exceptional customerservice while supporting the clinical team with a wide range of administrativeduties. Key responsibilities include: Providing comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the ward Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation Coordinating appointments and managing administrative requests Processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges Responding to telephone and face-to-face enquiries in a professional manner Managing patient and staffing information within electronic systems Completing data entry and routine administrative reporting Supporting quality improvement initiatives and maintaining documentation standards Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent service to patients and whānau. Essential skills and experience: Reception, office administration or clerical experience Strong computer literacy and data entry skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks Well-developed organisational and time management skills Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach Understanding of Te Ao Māori and tikanga Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to equity Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Desirable: Previous ward clerk, patient administration or healthcare administration experience Experience working within the health sector Knowledge of Health New Zealand patient administration systems Experience using electronic patient management systems.
