Roofer Leading Hand

We are seeking experienced Commercial Roofer Leading Hands to join our established Auckland-based roofing company. This is a full-time, permanent role working on commercial and industrial roofing projects including long-run metal roofing, membrane systems, waterproofing, and flashing installations. The role is part of an active effort to fill skilled vacancies within our business. We will first assess all suitable New Zealand citizens and residents before progressing with overseas candidates under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme. You will be working in a fast-paced construction environment with a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, and meeting project deadlines across multiple sites. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise and motivate a commercial roofing crew on site. Plan daily work activities and allocate tasks to maximise productivity. Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and site instructions. Install and repair commercial roofing systems (metal and/or membrane) Install flashings, rainwater goods and associated roofing components. Work safely at heights in compliance with H&S requirements Use hand and power tools relevant to roofing installation Support site teams to complete projects on time and to specification Follow all site safety procedures, including PPE and height safety systems Skills, Experience & Requirements Minimum 3+ years commercial roofing experience Experience installing long-run roofing Membrane and TPO experience is an advantage Proven experience leading roofing crews on commercial construction projects Strong knowledge of metal roofing systems, flashings, roof safety and waterproofing principles Ability to read plans and work independently Ability to work at heights safely and confidently Good understanding of construction site practices Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction Physically fit and reliable with strong work ethic Full New Zealand driver’s licence Working at Heights qualifications and relevant Site Safe training are desirable Hours of Work Minimum 30 hours per week Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work depending on project deadlines Work is primarily based across Auckland sites Pay & Benefits Hourly rate: NZD $35.00 - $40.00 per hour (depending on experience and skills) Consistent pipeline of commercial roofing projects Opportunity for long-term employment and skill development Supportive team environment with experienced supervisors PPE and safety equipment provided where required Important Recruitment Notice (AEWV Requirement) In line with Immigration New Zealand requirements, we are actively seeking to hire suitable New Zealand citizens or residents for this role.
