We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and career-focused individual to join our Monitoring Team as a Alarm Monitoring Trainee Manager. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in monitoring management, emergency communications, and leadership. Full training will be provided, with opportunities to progress into supervisory and management responsibilities for those who demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, and operational excellence. About the Role As an Alarm Monitoring Operator, you will play a critical role in protecting people, property, and businesses throughout New Zealand by responding to alarm events quickly and professionally. You will work in a fast-paced control room environment where attention to detail, calm decision-making, and excellent customer service are essential. During your training period, you may be rostered across afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and occasional graveyard shifts. Once fully trained, applicants demonstrating leadership potential may be offered permanent daytime management shifts. Additional allowances apply for weekend and graveyard shifts. Key Responsibilities Alarm Monitoring & Emergency Response Monitor Fire, Security, Medical, Lift Emergency and Automation alarm systems. Respond promptly to alarm activations. Receive and manage inbound emergency and customer calls. Verify caller identity, location, and the nature of incidents. Dispatch emergency services, contractors, technicians, keyholders and other response personnel. Provide emergency medical instructions where required, following approved response procedures. Accurately interpret maps, site plans and computer-based information to coordinate emergency responses. Maintain accurate event logs and operator notes. Customer & Administration Process customer requests relating to monitoring changes and account updates. Create and maintain customer records within internal and third-party software platforms. Ensure all monitoring instructions and response plans remain accurate and up to date. Communicate professionally with customers, emergency services and contractors. Monitoring Management & Leadership As your training progresses, you will also develop skills in: Staff rostering Leave approval administration Operational workflow coordination Quality assurance Training and mentoring new staff Monitoring team leadership Continuous process improvement Training & Certification Successful applicants will participate in our structured training programme and will be expected to successfully complete ongoing competency assessments. You will be required to maintain: ALARMNZ Certified Monitoring Operator Standard NZQA Level 1 First Aid (Unit Standards 26551 & 26552) Ministry of Justice Certificate of Approval (PSPLA 2010), where applicable NZQA Workplace Fire Emergency Certificate (Unit Standards 3271 & 16800) Company operational certifications and annual refresher training About You We're looking for someone who: Remains calm under pressure Has excellent communication skills Enjoys solving problems and making decisions Has exceptional attention to detail Is highly organised and reliable Can multitask in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates initiative and leadership potential Is comfortable working with technology and multiple software systems Is committed to continuous learning and professional development Previous experience in emergency services, security, customer service, call centres, dispatch, military, police, healthcare, aviation, or operations is advantageous but not essential.
