Job Description

Progressive Hydraulics is seeking an experienced, hands-on and energetic Production Controller to lead the workshop, production planning, and stock processes. This is a frontline role where you'll spend the majority of time on the production floor, supporting, coaching, mentoring, training, and developing the team, solving problems, driving accountability, upholding high health & safety standards, and ensuring jobs move through the workshop in a timely manner. Key responsibilities Planning and managing daily and weekly workshop priorities Coordinating production jobs from release through to completion Making sure assembly technicians have the parts, drawings, tools, and instructions they need before work starts Improving stock accuracy, bin locations, kitting, and parts availability Working with purchasing and management to identify shortages before they delay production Increasing housekeeping, workflow, health & safety, and accountability in the workshop Working with design, purchasing, sales, and management to reduce delays, rework, and waste Fostering a team culture built on ownership, accountability and pride in workmanship About you Experienced leading or coordinating a workshop, production, manufacturing, assembly, or engineering environment Can lead production, scheduling and floor workflow Strong stock-control discipline and understanding of parts logistics Ability to read drawings, job procedures, BOMs, or production instructions Confidence working with technicians, assemblers, engineers, and management Good computer skills and confidence using digital tools for inventory control, timekeeping, or production systems Strong follow-through and attention to detail Fair but firm leadership style Practical approach to health & safety Experience with hydraulics, machinery attachments, fabrication, barcode systems, kanban, FIFO, cycle counting, or ERP systems would be an advantage About us Progressive Hydraulics is a New Zealand engineering and manufacturing business building high-quality grading attachments, hydraulic systems and equipment for local and export markets.
