About the Role We are looking for intern psychologists to join Mental Health, Addiction andIntellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) as part of the PsychologyIntern Programme in 2027. This is afantastic opportunity for those who are entering their final year in a tertiaryspecialist or clinical programme on the road to become registered psychologists. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a variety ofclinical settings within MHAIDS which may include inpatient, community, adult, forensicrehabilitation, younger persons (child and family), specialist Māori and Pasifika services. Interns will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess and workwith people experiencing a range of issues including coexisting mental healthand addiction issues. Successful applicants will receive clinical supervision andmentoring whilst they develop skills in assessment, psychological formulationsand interventions. About theTeam/Service/ Location MHAIDS isthe Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service, for CCHV andWairarapa Districts, at Health New Zealand.As a large provider of secondary specialist mental health and addictionand intellectual disability services, we are able to provide interns with arange of clinical opportunities throughout the 2027 internship. Thesuccessful candidates will be part of the MHAIDS whānau and will have access topastoral and clinical support from a dedicated Psychology Intern Coordinator. Alongsidethis there will be opportunities for peersupport opportunities withother interns as well as specific professional support from ClinicalPsychologists within MHAIDS. Interns are placed across a wide range of services within MHAIDS. We aimto ensure interns have a range of child and adult opportunities across the lifespan to match their qualification requirements.We have a proven record of supporting Psychology interns into permanentemployment at the end of their Intern year. About you The ideal candidate(s) will: Be enrolled in aNZ psychology board registered tertiary level course (e.g. clinical psychologyprogramme). Have a solid understanding of mental health,addictions, physical health and social issues that impact tangata whaiora,their whanau and the community. A proven academic and clinical track record as apsychology student (undergraduate and postgraduate) and have a willingness anddesire to apply their skills and knowledge in a specialist health setting,under supervision. Havealready completed a bachelor's degree in psychology, and are concurrentlyworking on a Masters or PhD/DClin Psy in applied psychology (e Clinical orchild and family). Havecompleted their research and be ready to commence work in 2027 and have acommitment to stay and work in the Wellington region post qualification andinternship.
